01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Tucked just off the main streets of Machiya in Arakawa Ward, SKY PROVENCE brings baking techniques inspired by the south of France to daily breads and pastries. The centerpiece of the bakery is the Baguette Overnight, fermented slowly at low temperatures for roughly 20 hours. The result is a thin, deeply browned crust cradling an airy, chewy crumb. Even gently warmed, the loaf releases wheat aromas alongside a gentle tang, making it rewarding to eat entirely on its own.

Beyond table breads, the bakery's sweet and savory creations show equal attention to detail. One signature bake is the Canelé de Godiva, an adult confection enriched with chocolate Godiva liqueur that pairs a caramelized exterior with a moist, custardy center. Other shelves display croissants enriched with 100% butter, the Gorgon Honey balancing blue cheese with honey sweetness, and casse-croûte baguettes stuffed with prosciutto, figs, and cream cheese.

A small cafe beverage menu includes the house Komodo Dragon coffee, noted for its deep body and finish reminiscent of dark chocolate. Customers can take their selections to go or settle into one of the few counter seats when space allows. Popular loaves often sell out by the afternoon, making mid-morning visits best for catching the fullest array fresh from the oven.
